Many thanks for visiting Donate Seattle, which we hope you will find to be a useful resource.
Donate Seattle aims to make it easier for potential donors in Western Washington to identify nonprofit organizations they might like to support. Often, people have good, useable items they would like to donate, but they are unable to find an organization that has a matching need.
Donate Seattle invites nonprofit organizations to list the items they require. By performing a simple search, potential donors can identify organizations they may like to donate to. It is an additional resource to strengthen the existing nonprofit networks in our Community.
Founded in November 2006, through private funding, Donate Seattle is expecting approval for 501(C)3 nonprofit status in early 2010.
Who we are: Donate Seattle Board Members
Janet Kormondy Donate Seattle Founder
On arriving in Seattle from the UK in 2003, her volunteer experience with several local nonprofits highlighted the fact that many individuals and businesses were frustrated when they had good, useable items to donate and didn’t know how to connect with those who could use them most. Since launching Donate Seattle in November 2006, Janet has been pleased to welcome Board Members who share her vision, humor and enthusiasm.
Prior to moving to the US, Janet’s career path included podiatry and pharmaceutical sales management. She also enjoyed nonprofit management, predominantly raising funds to support research into Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Kris Parfitt Donate Seattle President
Having a passion for people and community, Kris Parfitt is a career strategist and leadership development and professional branding coach with Career Leadership Coaching. She is also a weekly contributor to several career and leadership blogs. An avid lover of the outdoors, friends and family, she spends much of her free time playing and creating shared adventures. She is passionate about Donate Seattle because of the opportunity it provides to make giving more personal. "Knowing the impact of my donation inspires me to contribute more."
Dave Hamilton Donate Seattle Vice President
Dave Hamilton is a Washington native and lives in Bellevue. He has spent the last 20 years in the transportation industry and is currently the president of Delivery Express, Inc. Hamilton is the father of 5 and enjoys spending time with his kids and enjoying local arts and culture.
He was drawn to Donate Seattle because it provides the means for donors to give their specific donation to the specific charity of their choice. Donate Seattle also helps charities get exactly what they need without the burden of handling things they don’t. “All parties are well served by Donate Seattle-donors, charities, recipients,” according to Hamilton.
Allie Kerr Donate Seattle Secretary
With a background in community organizing, political campaign work and primary source research, Allie brings a passion for nonprofits and the gift economy to Donate Seattle. She is delighted by Donate Seattle's pragmatic model, and hopes to help broaden its impact to reach even more nonprofits, and more potential donors. Allie is a Seattle native with a fondness for good books, bad movies, and unusual tea. When she is not donating Seattle, she works as a writer and stiltwalker.
